OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY STUDENT'S EBOLA VICTIM IS FREE OF THE VIRUS

Prof. Bamitale Omole

The Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria had a scare when one of its student (female) was suspected to have contacted the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). In a swift reaction, the school management had arranged with the Lagos State Government as the suspected student was transported to the quarantine center in Lagos State all the way from Osun State. After quarantine, it was discovered that she is free of the EVD.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bamitale Omole while addressing news men, informed that the student is back on campus and her case was merely of suspicion.  He pleaded with all students and staff alike to avoid stigmatization  of the student who was merely suspected to have the virus.

Meanwhile, the school authority had instructed all foreign students from Liberia to stay back a while until the issue of EVD in their country is resolved to a logical point.
