FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ADO EKITI ON LOCK DOWN


The Union of the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti commenced an indefinite strike today to press hime their demands. In a protest by the Union heads, Mr. Ayeni Oluwole and Mr. Adekunle Adeniyi both of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnic(SSANP) and Non-Academic Staff Union(NASU) respectively (both of Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti) while leading their members on a peaceful protest, carrying placards in the school premises informed of their indefinite strike. Some of their complaints were irregularities in the financial dealings of their salaries, non-remittance of cooperative dues to the respective cooperatives, these are among other things they are agitating for.







In view of these, the unions have called for the sacking of the rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Theresa Taiwo Akande and the Governing Council of the school.



Meanwhile, the rector appealed for calm and promised that issues will be resolved. She however pleade with the unions to exempt the Center for Continuous Education (CCE) and some other external campuses to continue with their operation while they observe their strike.
