The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) is one of the 46 industrial unions currently affiliated to the Nigeria Labour Congress. NUPENG was formerly registered as a Trade Union on 15th August, 1978 but held its inaugural conference On 2nd November 1977 at the cultural center Benin City, Edo State.
The Union is divided into Four Zones for easy administration and operations namely Lagos, Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna.
Meanwhile, the Union threatened an industrial action and has given the Federal Government a two(2) weeks ultimatum to fix bad roads in the south south region of the country.
They claim that the roads have been a result of loss of human lives and commodities, and does not necessarily need to continue.
We however wait to see how the Federal Government respond to these giving the manners it had responded to industrial actions while also putting into account the various problems it had to handle which includes the issue of Ebola Virus Disease and the terrorist group "Boko Haram".
