IS IT A "YES" OR "NO" – SCOTTISH DECIDES SOVEREIGNTY TODAY

Scottish Flag
Scotland’s faith will be decided today as they go into a referendum to decide the faith of the country which is under the sovereignty of the United Kingdom.

Scotland is one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom; others include Wales, Northern Ireland, and England. England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales each have separate national governing bodies for sports and compete separately in many international sporting competitions like football, Olympics, Commonwealth Games among others. The United Kingdom is a sovereign state and as such is listed in International Organization for Standardization (ISO), England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not themselves listed in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) list of countries.

Scotland as at last census (2011) was about 5,295,000 in population with a land mass of 78,772km2, and a population density of 67.22 per km2. Its state capital is Edinburg and she practices the Scot law legal system.

However, the prime minister of England, Gordon Brown have pleaded with the people of Scotland  to remain in the family of United Kingdom. But stakeholders in the country agitating for their own sovereignty have argued that the time is ripe for them to stand alone.

Though a lot of questions on how Scotland will independently fund itself and survive as a sovereign state have come under strong criticism as the “NO ” group are skeptical about the whole process. The “YES” group however argued that Scottish and those residents in Scotland make up the larger percentage of the income tax for the UK.

Promise to keep you posted on the outcome of their referendum.
