A middle aged man Maimako Shephang in plateau state allegedly sold his wife to ritualist for the sum of
Maimako had tricked his wife out of the house with
an excuse to fetch firewood at the farm when he led her into the arms of the
ritualist. The unsuspecting wife met the ritualist thinking they were friends
to her husband. As luck was on the side of the wife the ritualist interrogated her
before the ritual and found she was not suitable for the rituals, apparently
they wanted a virgin for the rituals but she was married (and deflowered) already.
When asked about the person that brought her she replied” it is my husband”,
shock and outraged, the ritualist told the wife that the husband brought her to
be used for ritual, that her husband has duped them knowing fully that only a
virgin is suitable for that purpose. They let the wife go and she raised an alarm
when she got home, this attracted the attention of police officer and the case
was taken up, Maimako and one of the ritualist have been arrested, Plateau state
commissioner of police, Nosiru made this known while addressing news men he further
said that arrest was made on the 30th of August, 2014 by 11:00pm and
the woman is indeed lucky to be alive.
Maimako however confessed to the crime and said that it was the act of the devil. He claimed that he still love his wife dearly and he had returned part payment he got (
