The Federal Government has announced that the date for resumption of academic activities for Primary and Secondary school education in Nigeria is now September 22nd, 2014 as against the earlier date of October announced due to the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
EVD came into Nigeria, specifically Lagos through a Liberian - American man, Patrick Sawyer (now late), and so far more cases have been reported in Lagos, Rivers, and some rumored cases in the North and Ondo state.
However, proactive measures by the Lagos state government and the Federal Government have ensured that the virus is kept under control so far.
Safety measures including proper washing of the hand, use of sanitizer as well avoiding contact with persons whose sickness have manifested are advised. EVD can only be contacted through contact with body fluids like blood, sweat and saliva.
Parents and teachers are advised to take note of the preventive measures to help keep the control and eventually elimination of the EVD in Nigeria alive.
