NYSC DG Faults 38900 Allawee Increase
The Director General of the National Youths Service Corps, in person of Brigadier J. B Olawunmi this afternoon faulted the increment in the payment of the teeming corps members.
This was established by him at the ongoing camp in Ondo. He enjoined all corps members to debunk it as either sheer expensive rumour that can't hold water or that can't stand the logical test of time. He further reaffirmed that, if truly the bill had scaled through the other stages & most especially, the Committee Stage on the floor of the House, this would still have to wait so as to be included as part of the 2015 Budget before it's being effected.
This was coming on the heals of the wound of suspense that the Batch B, C & A have been much anticipated for. In line with the motion that was sponsored by an APC member of the House of Reps who's from Kwara made sure that this bill sees the light of the day as it took the centre stage of debate/deliberation.
This rumour has been flying around like Unseen Flying Object (UFO) after which it's generated huge controversy amongst the fresh & senior Otondos. Moreover, the DG assured the corps members who're sworn in this afternoon to be good ambassadors as they uphold the virtues of NYSC.
He pressed the fact home that, the only change that has been effected regarding this controversy is the upward review of the feeding allowance on camp from 100 naira per day to 500 naira per day & assigned to each corps member. This was considered as part of the Transformation Agenda of Mr. President & his cabinet, he added.
Tied to this, he said that, he has recommended before the National Assembly alongside other government stakeholders that are involved on the upward review up to 39800.
If the statement of the Director General of NYSC is anything to go by, it is a good omen that better times await the Batch B & C corps members.
